Economech has successfully completed the mechanical
installation of numerous retail and entertainment
complexes. These include retail projects at Manukau
City Centre and Shore City Galleria, as well as
eight multiplex cinema projects for Village/Force
Cinemas. Economech installed the air-conditioning
and ventilation at the Force Entertainment Centre
in Downtown Auckland. This complex contains 12 cinemas,
NZ's first IMAX screen, an atrium with five retail
levels, a "Planet Hollywood" restaurant
and a food court.
This project has been designed
in-house in conjunction with a local mechanical
consultant, and contains unique and innovative
concepts and systems to cope with this very complex
building.
Shopping Mall refurbishments
are regularly undertaken such as the recently
re-opened 277 Broadway Complex in Newmarket, Auckland.
The staged rebuilding of the Mall included individual
shop tenancies, fashion precinct and split level
Foodcourt.
In 1992, Economech negotiated
the design and installation of the air-conditioning
system for the New Zealand Expo Pavilion in Seville,
Spain. The pavilion was visited by 3.3 million
people over a period of six months. The system
supplied a staggering one million cubic metres
of fresh air per day, keeping the pavilion cool
at a time when outside temperatures often reached
45 Degrees Celsius. Economech utilised its computerised
high velocity static pressure regain duct sizing
system, as well as natural stratification, to
minimise plant size and running costs.
