Economech have installed air-conditioning systems
in a number of hospitals throughout New Zealand,
including the Southern Cross hospitals in Wellington
and Wanganui. Given the need for a sterile environment,
Economech have installed Lamina Flow units in hospital
theatre suites and have experience in designing
the necessary pressure regimes to ensure purity
of air and correct air flow. Economech have also
installed pipework systems for the reticulation
of medical gases, heating systems for Ward Blocks,
and Co-Gen hot water systems providing for power
generation and hot water production.
In 1997, Economech completed the air- conditioning
installation of the Henry Bennett Centre at Waikato
Hospital. This utilised a number of large reverse
cycle heat pumps which used the building's exhaust
air as a heat sink to gain highly efficient operation
of both heating and cooling systems.
In 2003 the Ambulatory Care
and Rehabilitation Building was opened at Greenlane
Hospital Auckland. This all new facility is served
by central constant volume Air Handling units
with local reheat. The medical gases system was
also installed and commissioned by Economech.
Economech also specialises in
upgrading and refurbishment of services in existing
hospitals such as the Mercy Hospital Wards and
Masonic Village Hospital for elderly care in Auckland.
One of our largest projects
currently under construction is the infrastructure
upgrade at Middlemore Hospital. This work entails
upgrade and replacement of chilled and heating
water systems and plantrooms in a series of stages
being carried out over the next few years.
Economech are also able to offer
combined mechanical services / medical gases and
plumbing packages to the industry.
