Following
the successful completion of the "Pier Extension"
and Retail areas at Auckland International Airport,
Economech was awarded the mechanical services
installation of the $180 million International
Terminal Redevelopment.
Completed in December 1997,
the project added an additional 6.2 megawatts
of cooling and 3 megawatts of heating to the terminal.
The system incorporates variable volume secondary
chilled water circuits, orifice plate measuring
stations, and automatic flow regulating control
valves on air handling and fan coil units (the
latter being selected for ease of commissioning
and long term flexibility for the changing needs
within the terminal building).
Working closely with Auckland
International Airport Ltd and its Consultants,
Economech had significant design input into the
project and provided value-engineering services
by assisting in the optimisation of construction
and operating costs. As the Terminal was operational
throughout the construction period, all services,
including air-conditioning, were required to be
operational at all times. Detailed planning by
Economech allowed this to occur, and the impact
on the public during the three-year construction
period was minimal.
Other projects carried out at
Auckland Airport include the Pier Gate Lounge
and Air New Zealand No 1 Cargo refurbishments,
the Bank of New Zealand and NZ Post buildings
and various other works for the Airport Company
ancillary buildings and tenants.
Examples of projects completed:
International Terminal Building
Pier Extension
Fonterra Head Office
Bank of New Zealand (incorporating Air New Zealand
Logistics)
Air New Zealand No.1 Cargo Offices
NZ Post - International Mail Centre
DHL Worldwide Express - Offices and Warehouse
TNT - Offices and Warehouse
